Lesson #1 by Dr. Tan
"Acupuncture and Moxibustion" is a therapeutic treatment first discovered and applied by the Chinese. It states that there are "Jing Luos" besides blood vessels and lymph nerve systems in the human body. We have 14 main "Jing Luos" which is subdivided into body points in each part of our body, a total of 642 points have been discovered till now.
Modern physiology found that there exists bioelectricity in a human body, and "Jing Luos" are connection for each human organ and surface body points are the junctions. Generally a healthy body should maintain a normal balance state in all parts of the body. If one is sick this shows that part of the normal balance is lost. We can restore it to the normal balance state by massaging, needling or warming the body points concerned.
Acupuncture has special treating effect against many nervous system diseases. It not only helps to relieve pains but also cures most of the chronic diseases and some acute diseases without any toxic side effect. It is based on the theory of "Jing Luo", stimulating body points to regulate original body resistance against diseases.
Acupuncture and acumassage will surely improve your health condition and also keep your face young and good-looking. After the first few treatments, degree of effectiveness depends on each particular person because there are always some physical differences between each individual.

Mariann Mesa: Agree TCM is needed in hospitals. The other thing that the govt must proceed to accept is MCs given out by licensed TCM practitioners. Many folks are taking their own leave to visit TCM clinics simply because MCs given out in such clinics are still not recognised. This age-old policy needs to be changed urgently.
Joseph Lim: It is a good idea to have a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) unit in all hospitals as there may be patients who are not in favour of Western medicine and may prefer TCM. It allows patients to have a choice. TCM is also gaining popularity. The authorities should consider the suggestions raised.
LeeCC: TCM should be introduce into our medical system. The combination of western and TCM will greatly improve the medical system here.
Since we are developing into a medical hub. We should gave patient different choices of medical care. Further making TCM into a standard. Recognize TCM practitioner as legal doctors. Start TCM school to produce TCM doctors. Learn from the Chinese the thousand years old practice.
